TRIBAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
One of the major interventions of CREED focuses on the tribal population spread across the costal districts of Andhra Pradesh state. We have Yanadi tribal in Nellore and Prakasam districts; and Chenchus in Prakasam districts. Even though government implements several welfare programs for them, very few get benefit due to many rules and requirements. The less literacy rate is also one major cause for not utilizing the government schemes. CREED implemented education support programs for the tribal children that provide study materials, dry ration and school fees. Education and health awareness programs are part and parcel of this intervention meant for the tribal groups. Medical support also extended to them to keep them healthy, as they live in small hamlets away from the main villages. Because of their life style in isolation, this is also another major reason for government programs not reaching them to the expected level.
